Spirituality – The False Perception

Spirituality has somehow gotten mixed in with the altruistic idealistic New Age fluff. The word itself, for many, conjures up images of hippy-dippy tree hugging positivity spewing do-gooders. When in reality the two are no more the same animal than Spirituality and Religion.

Spirituality isn’t all rainbows, kittens and love. It’s not about being nice. It’s not about pretending to be something you are not or feeling bad for something that you are. That often falls more under religion.

Spirituality, simply put, is about authenticity. It’s about being you, the real you. The good, the bad and the ugly and accepting it all. It’s about personal growth, release and allowance. It’s about standing strong and tall in your I AM presence and being true to yourself rain or shine, come what may – regardless of the opinions of others.

Spirituality is different for everyone. No two people have the same perspective or experience. It is your own personal connection to your higher self, The Universe, God, a Higher Power, the Oneness – whatever title you choose to give. It’s all the same, wrapped in a different bow. It is there and you know it when you feel it.

People seeking out this connection often get wrapped up in the looking and asking for it. They find others who seem to have what they want, which is great – we all need support and to feel that we are not alone. Leading by example really is all any of us can do but there are an awful lot of false prophets out there who are in it for the money, so choose carefully and listen to your inner voice and guidance.

The Wizard of Oz was a great analogy for this. Dorothy spends her whole journey trying to find the Wizard, only in the end to find out “The power was yours all along.” Spirituality is the same. The power comes from within you; you just have to acknowledge and allow it.
