TRUMP’S ANTI-MSM PATTERN
The mainstream media continues overreacting to President Trump’s treatment of their “journalists.” Last month, the media felt scandalized by a refusal to take a question from a CNN reporter. Most recently, the taking of a question from a Daily Caller reporter is the source of controversy.
These presstitutes prefer to be called “the Fourth Estate,” styling themselves an unofficial branch of government acting as a check on the power of the other branches. The Fourth Estate is more akin to an unelected branch of government, more shadowy, stultified, and incestuous than even the judiciary, however.
MEDIA AND UNIVERSITIES A CLOSED LOOP
The media is trained in the universities by liberal professors. These same professors are then cited by the media as “expert sources,” thereby forming a closed loop. Like their professors, the media despise “the common man in the bar,” leveraging their platform to cast him as a benighted “Archie Bunker” with the end goal of overturning his daily life. The media cheered, for example, when the Boy Scouts were ultimately forced to admit transgendered persons (despite retaining the name “Boy” Scouts, oddly enough).
FIRST AMENDMENT FIGLEAF FOR FIFTH COLUMN
True narcissists, mainstream journalists look upon the First Amendment as if it were written solely for them, the stars of their very own reality show. Yet, the First Amendment contains no references to the New York Times, MSNBC, CNN, or even Fox News. It merely states
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
“The press” is an expansive concept that includes book publishers, letter writers, and those who post on blogs. Any citizen can write whatever he wants (aside from laws affecting libel, obscenity, or crimes against minors), regardless of whether he is employed by a mainstream news organization. The First Amendment, in short, neither grants the mainstream media a monopoly nor any powers beyond those which any other citizens may exercise.
Some observers have pointed out that these radical Leftist protesters gracing the nightly news are waiting for us, whether in 2020 or 2024. They have already proven themselves to be violent and they will be out for revenge. Coming from an old tradition dating back to Jane Fonda, the media is responsible for aiding and abetting these miscreants. Far from a “Fourth Estate,” the MSM essentially constitutes a Fifth Column.
NEXT POLICY STEPS
The Internet has broken the monopoly of the mainstream media, and the Trump Administration can finish the job. Extending press credentials to alternative outlets helps–the integration of Gateway Pundit into the White House Press Corps has already occurred and has the mainstream media up in arms. Wielding antitrust powers to break up the six corporations that own the vast majority of media outlets is the next logical step. More fundamentally, defunding the universities would finally break the control that the Left has wielded since their Gramscian Long March through the Institutions took place between the 1930s and 1960s.
Some might suggest that the Right doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to press forward with these reforms, but as I’ve been saying since January 20, 2017, if Donald J. Trump can’t do it, no one can.
