Stop Junk Mail: Save Time & Trees

Junk Mail: You know…– Advertisement flyers every three days
– Credit card checks about twice a month
– Catalogs that you never purchased from
– Pre-approved unsolicited credit cards
– Weekly circular, and the proverbial
– You may already be a winner!

HOW DO YOU STOP JUNK MAIL?
There are many ways to deal with Junk Mail. I trust the first thing most of us would do is to recycle and perhaps use the paper for training a pet or protecting the floor when painting. However, the following ways can curtail and even stop Junk Mail.

– With receiving checks from your credit card companies, call them or go online to your account and opt out!
– Unsolicited pre-approved credit card offers, visit: www.Creditsourceonline.com/opt-out.html
– Flyers, Advertisements: Call 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688) and ask to have your name removed from direct marketing lists. Prefer doing things online? Then visit: www.OptOutPreScreen.com, this is the official consumer credit reporting website.
– Catalogs! Send an e-mail to [email protected] with your name and address to opt out. Abacus is the database used by nearly all product catalogs. HOWEVER, if you wish to still receive your favorite catalogs, then create a free account at: Catalogchoice.org. Then choose the catalogs you wish to unsubscribe from.
– You may already be a winner! Really, most of us lose with this one. Email your request for removal to Publishers Clearinghouse at: [email protected]
– Weekly circulars like the Val-Paks. Fill out the form at:
www.Coxtarget.com/mailsuppression/s/DisplayMailSuppressionForm

These steps may take some time, but you will be saving a great deal more of your time when completed. Some reports have stated that these steps can even help to reduce any temptation that may cause you to fall further in debt. Also removing your name from marketers’ databases can help to protect your privacy.

One more thing… Those unsolicited telemarketing phone calls that we get just after we give thanks and start eating dinner! Stop most of them within one month by registering your telephone number online at: www.DoNotCall.gov or call toll free at: 1-888-382.1222. Registration is free and you may need to renew every few years, so check directions on the website.

Best wishes for a clutter free, paper saving mailbox by the curb!

Bill Lauto is an Environmental Scientist and Energy Consultant who came on the scene in 1981 to present facts and teach details about how we can save money, energy, and our environment, without making sacrifices. Mr. Lauto has an Environmental Science degree from St. John's University, Energy Auditor Certification from New York Institute of Technology, and Certification in Thermal/Heating from S.U.N.Y. at Farmingdale. He interned at Equitable Environmental Health that brought him to evaluate the environment at LILCO's Nuclear power plant that never opened. As an entrepreneur, he operates EnergyHotwire.com, GoingTrueGreen.com and holds a U.S. Patent with a Trademark on an environmental and energy-related product.

Mr. Lauto has done and managed thousands of energy audits for homeowners. Not one recommended a single action that implied sacrifice. He never stated once that to save money and energy one must turn down their thermostat and wear a sweater. During the 20th Anniversary of Earth Day, Bill Lauto was the Energy Advisor to the Earth Day Committee in New York. Mr. Lauto was the attending expert witness to the press conferences of former New York’s Major Dinkins and Commissioner Mark Green. Mr. Lauto has been interviewed by ABC news, the New York Times, Cable News L.I. and was in a special television home audit hosted by Al Roker of NBC, but was never aired due to breaking news.

For over twenty years, Mr. Lauto has been stating that we don’t need foreign oil, we have the technology to make America energy independent. EnergyHotwire.com serves to educate the public for free on how to lower energy cost by 60% or more, while GoingTrueGreen.com uses videos and Mr. Lauto's Blog to help dispel mis-information and provide the facts about truly Going Green.
