Is being fearless an admirable trait? We read about the stories of being fearless in business. We hear stories or watch movies portraying soldiers in the heat of battle being fearless. We listen to success coaches tell us being fearless is vital to achieving your goals. However, is fearless a form of recklessness or focusing of your energy to achieve a certain goal?

No matter who you are or what your background, every person has some type of fear that is bottled up inside of them. It can be as simple as being scared or worried about performing well at work or home. Or, maybe it is the fear of developing a serious illness because your uncle died from colon cancer or a liver disease. While these are solid fears, it isn’t the fear that matters but how you handle and control it that really counts.

Depending on your fear, it may be difficult to face your entire head on. The best way to overcome any sort of fear is to take one small step at a time until you are able to overcome the fear.

There is a motivational quote that says, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time” The meaning behind this timeless wisdom is that any event or task can be accomplished if you start small and take consistent action day-after-after.

The First Step in Becoming Fearless

The first step to becoming fearless is to start looking for ways to overcome your fear. Because when you really think about it, fear is nothing more than your perception of a situation. For example, when you really think back about the many of the fears from your childhood, early adult life and your life now, how many of these seemingly “pressing fears” really happened?

If you’re like most people, the majority of the things you fear never materialize. The fear only paralyzes you from taking action.

The first step to becoming fearless is to ask yourself the following questions:

  • What is the possibility of this fear coming true within the 12 months?
  • What actions can I take to take control of this fear?
  • What is the worst that can happen by taking action to overcome my fear?

By asking yourself these questions, you will be able to place any fear into perspective.

The Second Step in Becoming Fearless

Get the facts. You see, facts remove fear. The reason is with facts, you know what you are dealing with and can take appropriate action. The more facts you know about a situation, the more confident you will be when dealing with the situation.

One thing many people fear is poor health. However, if you get the facts about your body, you need not fear poor health. What do I mean? For example, if your family has a history of colon cancer and fear your health may be affected, the first step is to get a colonoscopy. The results will give you the facts you need to prove to yourself you are fine so stop worrying about it.

In addition to getting the facts, thinking positively will increase your confidence, too. Use positive affirmations daily to help you reach your goals. Repeat positive affirmations every morning until you truly believe them.

Finally make sure to eating antioxidant-rich foods daily. This will help give you the energy you need to overcome your fears. One way is to enjoy a glass of Montmorency tart cherry juice daily to your diet. A single glass delivers over 3,622 ORAC units (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) per glass.

The Final Step in Becoming Fearless

The title of this post is “Do You Really Want to Be Fearless?” The answer to that question is yes. Let me explain. Being fearless simply means that you control your fear. You will not allow any sort of fear to get the better of you or hold you back from your goals and dreams.

Instead, you will first get all of the facts about the fear. This will give you accurate insight and remove any unknown factors. Next you will take small actions daily to overcome your fear. One way to accomplish this is the talk with another person about your fears. Another person’s insight may help you realize your fear is not realistic in actually materializing.

Also, being fearless is not about being reckless. There is a fine line between being sacred to do something and doing something that is foolish. However, if you push forward everyday you’ll soon find what you feared yesterday will provide you with wisdom and insight today. Having this wisdom, you’ll be able to take actions other people consider fearless, but you’ll know you are simply doing what comes natural to you. The reason is you now know how to become fearless and not foolish.

Start today and take small steps to overcome your fear and allow you to live the life you really want to.
