Previewing Samsung Galaxy S6

Samsung Galaxy S6 is finally here and it’s made to take on current design trends.

Unlike the S5, S6 and the Edge ditched the functional flagship phones of Samsung. They are dressed in plenty of glass with sharp metal lines.

They both run on Android’s latest operating system – Lollipop. Both have 5.1 inches screen and high-resolution display.

Samsung Galaxy S6 design

The overall design is attractive as it’s made of glass and metal. But metal is the predominant choice for this phone.

On the front and back, the phone uses Gorilla Glass 4 with a frame of matte aluminum alloy.

That said, it’s more solid, compact and fits perfectly in the hand. Although it’s not as big as iPhone 6, the size is still impressive.

Thanks to its higher resolution and larger display than the latest iPhone. Specifically, it comes in a 2560×1440 pixels.

Will it hurt the battery? It may. No one can tell for now.

But the display is undeniably clear and crisp. The battery is actually 2550mAh. It’s quite lower in capacity compared to the phone’s previous version. With this type of battery, the latest phone may have a more efficient screen or chipset.

To keep the handset lean, it has an embedded batter, so swapping out may not be easy or possible.

Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Edge has rounded tops and bottoms but with straighter sides.

What of the camera?

Samsung Galaxy S6 has 16MP sensor. It has an aperture of f1.9, which is especially useful when capturing photos in low light scenes.

Just like its previous versions, the latest phone has smart Optical Image Stabilization that keeps image great despite your shaky hands.

Other features to look forward to

It still has fingerprint scanner. But it has ditched its swipe-style reader. This means that the phone is now a touch-based unit.

The heart rate monitor feature is still present.

Wireless charging is possible with this unit. In 30 minutes, the phone’s battery will have 20% power.

Not waterproof

Unfortunately, Samsung Galaxy S6 is not waterproof, unlike the S5.

Samsung Galaxy S6 hasn’t been released yet on the market. We need to wait for a few months before we can finally buy one. Although the latest phone does have some cons, Samsung did correct some of the flaws it made to their previous units.
