New Research: Exercise Beats Drugs for Stroke Recovery, Heart Disease & Diabetes

You have been lied to! You have been told that your high blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and stroke recovery require prescription drugs for the rest of your life. New research shows that these drugs have likely been unnecessarily prescribed. This has placed millions of people at risk for deadly side effects due to these drugs.

This research shows that exercise is just as effective at treating heart disease and diabetes as medication. However, exercise has zero deadly side effects, making it even more effective than drugs. Further, the study showed that exercise is even more effective than drug therapy for stroke recovery. Imagine what would happen when you add rock solid nutrition to this as well!

The Wellness Lifestyle Approach to Healing

I have been involved in natural healthcare for nearly twenty years. Year after year, more research confirms the effectiveness of the natural treatments that I have used with my patients. Throughout the years, I have always used a wellness lifestyle approach for my patients.

The fact is that your body is designed to heal itself naturally as long as there is no interference. Your nervous system controls all of the healing in your body. When there is interference in your nervous system (subluxation), you cannot fully heal.

Likewise, interference in your nutrition may be present in the form of toxicity of deficiency. This interference can and must be removed as well to allow your body to heal. Eliminating toxicity and restoring proper nutrition are the keys.

Interference in your body’s ability to deliver oxygen to the 3 trillion cells of your body definitely limits your healing. Proper exercise removes this interference and restores normal oxygenation and normal healing. As demonstrated in this new research, this allows for natural healing of heart disease and diabetes, as well as, natural stroke recovery.

Results of this New Research

This study(6) was a collaborative effort of researchers at Britain’s London School of Economics and Harvard and Stanford universities in the United States. It was published in the British Medical Journal. The researchers looked at data from 305 studies that involved a total of almost 340,000 participants. Here is what they found:

  • There was no “statistically significant” difference between exercise and drug interventions for heart disease and repeated heart attacks.

  • Exercise is as effective as drugs at preventing diabetes.

  • For stroke recovery, exercise was actually more effective than drug treatment.

  • However, for heart failure, diuretic drugs were more effective than exercise alone.

Dangers of Drugs for Stroke Recovery and Heart Disease

This massive study compared the effects of several drugs to the effects of exercise. Far too often these drugs are assumed to be safe. However, an FDA approval and a doctor’s prescription does not indicate that they are safe.

While most major causes of death are on the decline, deaths due to medical treatment continue to climb.(1Medical treatment is the third leading cause of death in the U.S. through the combined effect of drug interactions, medical mistakes, and hospital acquired infections. Consider how safe you would feel about medical treatment knowing these facts:

  • Medical treatment kills over 390,000 people every year in the U.S. alone.

  • Worldwide, deaths due to prescription drugs are about 247,000!(2) This is equivalent to one Boeing 747 jumbo jet crashing and killing all its passengers every single day.

  • Every year, 16,500 people die due to complications from NSAIDS like ibuprofen!

This study looked specifically at statins and beta blockers for coronary heart disease, anticoagulants and antiplatelets for stroke, and diuretics and beta blockers for heart failure. Even when these drugs do what they are intended to do, they come with dangerous and deadly side effects.

  • Side effects of Lipitor (statin)(3) include: headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, memory loss, depression, weight gain, fatigue, loss of sexual ability/drive/desire, muscle pain and weakness, rhabdomyolysis, nerve damage, liver failure, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke, and death.

  • Side effects of Coumadin (anticoagulant)(4) include: muscle and joint pain, chest pain, constipation, diarrhea, paralysis, coughing up blood, blood in urine or stool, dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, irregular breathing, hair loss, spinal cord hemorrhage, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, intracranial hemorrhage, ocular hemorrhage, intra-abdominal hemorrhage, hepatitis, syncope, loss of consciousness, coma and death.

  • Side effects of hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic)(5) include: fatigue, impotence or decreased sexual interest, headache, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, nightmares, lupus-like syndrome, mood or mental changes, convulsions, bloody vomit, chest pain, nerve damage, elevated LDL (‘bad’) cholesterol, cardiac arrhythmias, hyperglycemia, gout, hypertension, breast cancer, and death.

Why Does Exercise Work Better Than Drugs for Stroke Recovery?

There are no deadly side effects of exercise therapy. Of course injuries can happen but when performed properly, there are zero side effects due to exercise.  There are however, many benefits of exercise as discussed here and here.

Your heart is a muscle. Exercise not only strengthens the muscles in your arms and legs, it strengthens your heart as well. Over time, regular exercise reduces blood pressure and resting heart rate. It stimulates your lymphatic system to boost detoxification and aid your immune system.

Additionally, when you supercharge your exercise efforts with high intensity interval training (HIIT), you supercharge your results. You not only get superior fat loss and metabolism boosting, you also get less inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of heart disease and stroke. Eliminating inflammation through exercise and nutrition actually reverses metabolic syndrome, diabetes and heart disease. This new research shows that exercise alone for stroke recovery is better than drug treatment. Add to this an anti-inflammatory diet and you can conquer disease naturally and exude great health!
