DIY: Homemade Cat and Dog Food

image

It is important to maintain homemade cat and dog food recipes because just like the human body our pet’s bodies also need the proper amount of carbohydrates, protein, and vitamins as part of their daily diet in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If a single nutritional factor in a pet’s diet is lacking than symptoms or conditions such as fatigue or malnourishment will begin to take effect. A pet’s diet fluctuates accordingly with its age as well as other factors such as growth, metabolism, and amount of activity each day and will begin to slow down after the first two years.

When preparing a homemade meal for either cats or dogs it is important to note that substitutions can be made for various ingredients within the recipe. For example, cat owners may substitute tuna fish for salmon as well as dog owners may replace chicken for turkey. Also, for pet owners who prefer not to feed their pets meat a variety of vegetables can be fed in order to enact amino acid synthesis and protein biosynthesis. Here are some great basic homemade cat and dog food recipes.

• 4 – 5 cans of Tuna
• ¾ cup Cooked Rice
• 3/8 pound Fresh Chicken Liver
• 4 sprigs chopped Parsley; stems removed

Drain the chicken livers in a strainer and bring to a boil in a large pot of water. Poach for 5 minutes than drain and rinse with cool water. Once finished chop up the chicken livers than mix with the finely chopped parsley. Drain the tuna thoroughly than mix with the cooked rice. Mix the tuna and rice with the parsley and chicken livers until all ingredients are well combined. Fill storage containers and serve.
