A detox juice diet is just one type of detox diet plan you could follow in order to get rid of harmful chemical toxins from your body. In fact, drinking detox juice is among the most popular detox programs because most people love juice, it’s easy to follow and has relatively few side effects.

About Juice Detox

Detoxifying your body with juice is a simple process. All you will do is drink fresh vegetable and fruit juices for a certain period of time. There are several variations of this type of detox. Some detox programs will require you to just drink juice all day with no solid food. This is a juice fast. It could be for 1, 2 ,3 or more days.

It is best not to do longer than this on your own unless you are experienced. It is better to be supervised by a naturopathic doctor, nutritionist or other health practitioner experienced in detox. Other juice detox diets allow you to have a diet of fresh organic fruits and vegetablesin addition to the juices.

Why is it Effective?

A juice detox is very effective in detoxing your body since juices contain concentrated amounts of nutrients such as essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other plant chemicals. They need no digestion so the nutrient get straight into the blood stream and the cells where they help push out the toxins.

They supply just about everything that the body needs in order to cleanse itself from harmful chemicals, giving the body time to renew and heal itself. Many can attest that after drinking juice even just for a day, they feel renewed and they can think more clearly as well.

Getting Started with Juice Detox

Before starting on any detox diet program, you should consult a doctor or other health practitioner who is knowledgeable about detox to see if it is suitable for your current state of health.

This is especially important if have special health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, other serious medical condition, or if you are underweight or have any eating disorder.

Do not do a juice detox if you are pregnant or breast feeding. It’s ideal for both prospective parents to do if you are planning to start a family.

You will need to purchase a good sturdy, non centrifungal, juicer that you can easily find by shopping online or at the nearest home appliances or health store. Pick a juicer that is ideal for regular use and easy to clean since you will be juicing a lot of fruits and vegetables quite a few times a day.

After that you need to find some good detox juice recipes and buy lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. It is good if you can get hold of the organic type.

Once you have everything in hand, you will need to schedule your detox. It is important to know that during your detox, you could  have low energy and may suffer from mild symptoms due to withdrawal from sugar and other chemicals found in the food that you normally eat.

To avoid this it’s best to take a couple of weeks before you plan to do the juice detox to slowly reduce regular tea, coffee, sugar and foods containing it, junk food and fatty food. The best time to do a detox juice diet is over a weekend when you have no commitments and you can take time out to relax.
