7 Tips To Genuinely Slow The Ageing Process

Various cosmetics companies would have you believe that if you pay enough they can make you look younger, but if you really care about your health you probably care more about actually being younger.

It’s true that no-one can stop time from passing, but there are also plenty of pensioners who are more physically able and youthful than some forty year olds. So if you want to stay young both physically and mentally, here are some tips to help you do just that:

Eat Healthily

This should be pretty obvious, but it’s so much more important than you might realize. Even if you are in your 20’s, eating processed food is damaging your body. But to get the point across, look at it this way:

You are constantly rebuilding new cells in your body to replace the old ones. The quality of those new cells is very much dependant on the quality of the raw materials (the food you are eating right now).

Don’t Stress

All sorts of stress can have a negative impact, but as humans evolution has adapted us very well to deal with high levels of stress for short periods (fight or flight type scenarios). What is much more damaging is prolonged low-level stress which is epidemic in today’s world.

If your lifestyle or job cause you to be stressed for much of the time then you need to change it or accept that you will live a shorter life.

Exercise

Exercise keeps you young in so many ways, but let’s focus on one:

Remember that your body is constantly generating new cells; well your body will prioritise those types of cell which are most needed. If you are constantly using your muscles and bones then your body will keep regenerating them.

If you don’t use your legs enough, your body won’t bother and over time you will lose your mobility. Once it has happened it’s too late, so use it or lose it!

Get Out More

Studies have shown that social people live longer and stay younger. There are likely many reasons but the fact is that if you spend too much time alone and are bored or lonely you are likely to age fast as well as more likely to become depressed.

So try to meet someone, falling in love is fantastic for your health! Additionally, join some clubs, find hobbies and people to share them with and spend time with your family. All of these things make life longer and more enjoyable, which ought to make it a no-brainer really!

Think More

There’s no point in an able body if you’ve lost your marbels! So take some time to exercise the great matter in a way that you enjoy (and stay stress free). Puzzles are a great pass time, reading is another.

Certain supplements like Ginkgo Biloba are thought to improve circulation to the brain and help short term memory. Additionally, an occasional glass of red wine can do wonders, although the exact reasons are still unknown.

Fasting & Weight Loss

Being overweight is terrible for your body, it puts more pressure on all of your organs and your skeleton. Imagine if your car was constantly towing a large trailer, it wouldn’t last as long would it?

Losing weight will lower your blood pressure and put less pressure on all of those vital organs. Best still, consuming fewer calories, and occasional fasting have both been shown to lower T3 production which has been linked to slowing the ageing process.

Protect Your Skin

I’m not a big fan of the moisturiser/anti-ageing thing, but it’s true that looking after your skin can prevent nasty things like cancer as well as making you look younger. The thing is, you need to do it right now, not in 20 year’s time.

So avoid too much exposure to intense sun light (although you do need some!) and take your vitamins, make sure you look after your skin and it will stay younger.
