Victims of gout are usually restless at night. During the night is the time when gout symptoms are most likely felt by the body. Some of the symptoms include pain and swelling of the joints and feeling of pressure and tenderness in the affected area. Gout can last for days, weeks, even years if left untreated.

For many years, many have suffered from the very painful, almost intolerable effect of gout. Because gout comes and goes once in a while and attacks are almost unpredictable, people have developed gout home remedies so that they would not have to go to the doctor or hospital to relieve the pain.

Gout home remedies are a quick solution to alleviate the pain. Below is a list of gout home remedies you can try if you have gout.

Natural Goat Home Remedies:

1- Applying ice to the affected area. Applying ice may give temporary relief to the pain. Just place cold packs over the swollen joint for 15 minutes.

2- Many have recommended using Epsom salt for gout relief. One of the effective gout home remedies is soaking the affected area in an Epsom salt solution (2-3 cups of Epsom salt + a small basin of hot water) for 30 minutes or until the water starts to cool.

3- Eat fresh fruits such as apples, bananas, oranges, limes, and cherries, especially black cherries. Basically, fruits that are high in vitamin C. It is known that an apple is highly effective in reducing the uric acid levels. Drink a glass of cherry juice a day to lessen recurrent attacks. Strawberries also work wonders.

4- Here’s one of the traditional gout home remedies that could help: apple cider vinegar. At least twice daily, mix and take in 1-2 tablespoons of organic honey with 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and ¼ teaspoon of baking soda. It is tested by many herbalists that after a few hours of taking it, the pain will subside.

5- Another old gout home remedy concoction: minced garlic-black cherry juice paste. Take at least once a day; early in the morning is a good time.

It is important to remember that pain relief is only one part of the remedy. The other part is to remove the uric acid crystal deposits from your system. The latter part is done by following steps 3 to 5 of the gout home remedies list.

Remember the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”? Prevention is still the best practice to avoid any kind of illness, so please make a habit of the following to avoid having a gout attack:

  • Reduce protein in your diet by cutting down on lean meat and organ meat products. Increase consumption fiber-rich foods, especially green leafy vegetables.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking.
  • Stay active and exercise daily.
  • Drink lots of water.

If you do these things you will be less susceptible to gout. But if you do happen to have gout, the above remedies will help you alleviate the pain and increase healing.
