Ensuring that your body receives proper nutrition is an important aspect of creating a healthy body and mind.

When I was chronically sick, bedridden and overweight, I was intuitively guided to heal my body from within. I began to turn my attention towards nutrition, noticing the effect that food had on my body.

As I increased the healing foods that I consumed, and decreased the foods that were causing my body harm, I began to feel significantly different.

After a few months, the acute symptoms of my chronic asthma, eczema and adrenal fatigue began to go away and I started to feel better. To my amazement, and delight, I started to lose weight naturally too.

A few years later my Doctors confirmed with medical tests what I already knew. I was 100% asthma-free. I also lost over 60 pounds naturally and have kept it off for over 15 years now.

Here are 5 powerful healing foods that you should try today.

1. Organic Lemons (with unwaxed skins)

Lemons are alkalizing and are a natural detoxifier. Being a common grocery item they are so easy to add into your life. Using lemons in your food and cooking can help you to stay healthy and give you a great boost of energy.

I always like to start (and end) my day with a glass of fresh lemon water. Simply take a big glass of warm water (not cold) and squeeze lots of fresh lemon juice into it, until it starts to go cloudy. I use about a third of a lemon.

This simple but effective and powerful healing drink supports your internal organs for natural cleansing and detoxification.

2. Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

Apples are well known to be extremely healthy, containing lots of nutrients, including pectin, vitamins, fiber and minerals. You may have heard the expression “an apple a day keeps the doctor away“.

Organic apple cider vinegar is made using apples and contains a rich source of minerals, vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids. Due to the way apple cider vinegar is fermented and produced, this natural substance can be used for healing almost every conceivable ailment.

Always choose a brand of apple cider vinegar that is raw, organic, unfiltered, unpasteurized and still contains the ‘Mother’ in it. When you look at the apple cider vinegar, it will be cloudy and you may even see sediment at the bottom of the bottle.

You can use apple cider vinegar to make salad dressings by blending or shaking together apple cider vinegar, oil, garlic, mustard and sea salt for a quick and easy salad dressing. Alternatively, just drizzle the apple cider vinegar directly on your next salad and enjoy it’s zingy taste.

3. Vegetable Broth

There is true magic found within vegetable broth and that’s why it can be a great healing food when your body is sick. Vegetable stock is the type of simple food that will heal you, due in large part to its simplicity.

Vegetable broth can be made very simply by chopping up and cooking organic vegetables in water, until they are super soft. Leave them to sit (preferably overnight) then drain the vegetables away from the liquid.

This broth will keep for a couple of days in the fridge. It can be served hot, flavored with a dash of sea salt and pepper if desired. Alternatively, use the vegetable broth as a stock, and make a soup by blending it with your favorite vegetables and seasonings.

Vegetable broth has healing and detoxifying properties and can support your body to heal naturally.

4. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

You may have recently heard about the healing powers and versatility of coconut oil, and with good reason.

Extra virgin coconut oil helps with moisturizing in an external application, and can also help your body to heal when it is consumed due to its’ anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Extra virgin coconut oil gives you a high concentration of Lauric acid and other key nutrients, and therefore should be your best choice for cooking.

5. Cinnamon

Besides it’s delicious aromatic value, cinnamon can also offer a great natural aid to your health.

Cinnamon has natural anti-viral properties that help to strengthen your immune system. It can also regulate your blood sugar levels, assisting the process of natural healing and weight loss.

You can add cinnamon generously to practically all your meals to enhance them and create delicious flavors in your cooking. I use cinnamon to flavor savory dishes, desserts and drinks, including shakes and smoothies.

Healing foods can totally transform your life.

I hope that this article inspires you to start eating more healing foods so that you can look and feel great naturally.
