If you need more energy, want to sleep better, and increase overall health and longevity, please conduct a detoxification for your body. You should do a detox at least twice a year. The great thing about the following foods is that they should continue to be eaten after your detox is complete.

- Artichokes. They help to purify the liver, which is the main organ of detoxification for the entire body.

- Apples. Apples contain pectin which is a great source of cleansing fiber to get rid of metals and other toxins. If you eat organic apples only, you will get more antioxidants than from non-organic ones.

- Asparagus. Asparagus has anti-inflammatory properties and has been known to lower the risk of death from breast cancer.

- Avocados. Avocados contain an antioxidant called glutathione. Antioxidants are known to assist the body in its desire to be fully cleansed from all toxins. When you increase glutathione in the body, you may be less likely to suffer from arthritis.

- Beets. Not many people are privy to beets, but the sacrifice is well worth it. Your blood pressure will lower, arthritic pain will be reduced, and they help to increase your energy levels.

- Blueberries. Blueberries are a great source of natural aspirin, which can help with inflammation and pain. They also contain phytonutrients for fast detoxification.

- Broccoli. Simply put, broccoli has anti-microbial, anti-cancer, and anti-diabetic powers and also prevents osteoporosis and allergies.

- Cranberries. Cranberries may be known to prevent urinary tract infections, but can also remove toxins from the body.

- Fennel. Fennel may be a bit strong, but it’s very high in fiber. Fiber is necessary in order to flush toxins out of the body. This little powerful herb can also help to prevent colon cancer.

- Flax seeds. Toxins must be eliminated and flax seeds do this job by binding themselves to the toxins and flushing them away through the intestines. One great way to consume flax seeds is to add them to your protein shakes in the morning.

- Garlic. Garlic has been used for centuries to help clear up colds. Being powerful enough to do this, imagine what else it can do for your body! It boosts the immune system, and cancels out the need to use antibiotics.

- Ginger. Ginger is known to help fight pain, cleanse waste from your intestines, and even increases metabolism. You can add it to hot tea, chew on ginger root, or even add it to your daily juice (machine).

- Green Tea. Green tea contains L-Theanine, an amino acid that relaxes your body and mind. Green tea is also great for its antioxidant properties, and has also been known to lower blood sugar.

- Lemons and 15- Limes. A little known fact about lemons and limes is that they contain high amounts of Vitamin C, which is utilized by the body to make a powerful antioxidant called glutathione. Freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice balances out the PH levels in the body which help to detoxify the liver.

- Pineapple and 17- Watermelon. For a new juice recipe that’s both delicious and hydrating, try pineapple and watermelon mixed together. The bromelain in pineapple helps to cleanse the colon and can relax the stomach for less acid reflux. Both contain high amounts of vitamin C which increases glutathione production – a major cleansing antioxidant.

- Seaweed. If there is any type of radioactive waste in your body, seaweed can remove it. It has lots of minerals which help to balance out PH levels. When your body is more alkaline than acidic, it can fight all diseases more powerfully.

- Turmeric. This spice is used in India a lot. It’s also a great addition to many meals that are cooked all over the world. It is powerful – you simply cannot conduct a proper detox without turmeric. High in antioxidants – the best age fighting nutrients that you can possibly consume!

- Wheatgrass. Wheatgrass has an ability to restore alkalinity to your blood, which will detox your body and protect the liver. It can help to reduce blood pressure as well. Don’t just use wheatgrass during your detox only, but continue using it every day for long term longevity.

Please don’t be afraid to try new foods. If you aren’t sure whether or not your stomach can handle some of them, find some tasty recipes that can easily hide the taste of the ones you know won’t be palatable to your taste.
