Practical tips for “health”

I’m going to be honest people hyper-focus on diet as if they had a death grip on it. I can give this analogy to give some context on what I mean, imagine a piece of music, now imagine focusing on a single instrument to the point of only hearing that instrument.Now I ask what have you missed out on? The whole song. It’s an odd phenomenon, I’ve done it myself. People constantly analyzing if they’re getting this or that nutrient, it’s quite stressful if you take a step back and observe, you might realize that you’ve over looked a whole lot. However it’s a process that some go through, some progress deeper into the rabbit hole than others. By no means do I think it’s strictly a bad thing to do, but it can like many things be taken too far. Yet there is a lot to be learned from obsession, I most certainly have myself. So I’ll give some tips that I think are quite practical for allowing you to express what I like to term your authentic self rather than this grandiose version of “health” most people portray.

Getting Outside

Connecting to the earth, literally and metaphorically. Not just because it’s good for you but because you want to. Find things that you can do outside that you enjoy, things that put you at ease, that make you reflect on the things you advert your eyes from everyday. Let the sunshine touch your skin, feel the grass or ground on your barefeet, observe the beauty nature.Each of these things are all great for health but that’s not really the point it’s merely a part of it.

Being present

Now we’ve all heard of being present if you’ve been look at material related to health it’s not hard to find people praising the concept of being present. This ties in to the point above if your not aware of you current state it’s pretty hard to find what you like or dislike. It’s hard to feel anything at all. But this concept of being present encompasses much more than just your physical state it’s also pertains to dealing with whatever thoughts are coming up and dealing/making amends with those thoughts with yourself, even questioning them and asking why there coming to the foreground of our attention. Perhaps if these things are done authentically they might bring ease to whatever ails you. A little caveat taking notice of the lies you tell yourself might help ,but it’s not always sunshine and rainbows.

Having a creative outlet

We all want to create something, if you take a look one of the reasons we want children is because partially we want to create life itself. There are a myriad of ways you can express your self in a creative fashion, just take notice in what interest’s you and see if you can make something out of it. creativity isn’t limited to just music, writing, and dancing. Creativity is boundless in the avenues in which you can take to partake in it’s wonders.

Taking the time to slow down 

Relaxing is important but what I find the most interesting is that people fool themselves into thinking that very stimulating activities are relaxing but I’m not to sure. When’s the last time you just sat down at a table and had a chat with someone,no phones just pure conversation? When’s the last time you took a bath and soaked in the warm water just thinking to yourself? Do you ever take the time to not be productive and just be without any rush or hurry? Try and notice when your movements are rushed and ask your self why your in such a rush, and if it’s an appropriate in that situation.
