The Benefits of Using A Natural Oil Facial Cleanser (and How to Use it)

Clear, dewy-looking, and glowing skin that is free from pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts is what many people dream about. The beauty and skincare industry makes you believe that their products are what you need to achieve your skincare goals. However, applying products full of chemicals is not really the solution to your skin problems. If you want to have smoother, clearer, and healthier skin, you should try going back to the basics.

With an oil facial cleanser, your skin can get better in no time. Oil cleansing is a process wherein natural oils are used to clean the skin instead of soaps and artificial cleansers. These oils are effective in dissolving and removing dirt from the skin. They are actually based on the premise that like dissolves like. So, a type of oil that is full of vitamins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory agents is guaranteed to dissolve pore-clogging oils.

How To Use A Oil Facial Cleaner

To use this type of cleanser properly, you need to use a soft washcloth. Do not use an abrasive cloth so your skin will not be irritated. Soak the washcloth in a bowl of warm water. Once it is damp, apply it on your face and leave it there for about 20 seconds. Afterward, take it off and massage the oil onto your skin. Allow your skin to absorb the oil for 30 seconds. Then, wipe it off with your damp washcloth.

Why Type of Oil To Use

You can use any type of oil as your facial cleanser. However, if your skin is normal or dry, shea oil and argan oil are your best choices. These types of oil will hydrate without making the skin feel greasy. On the other hand, if your skin is oily, you are better off using peppermint oil or tea tree oil with castor oil. Peppermint oil and tea tree oil both have astringent properties that are beneficial for oily skin. Castor oil makes for a great carrier oil for these types of oil.

If you want your skin to feel a little less greasy, you can use rose hip oil because it has a drying effect. You can also use extra virgin olive oil, but go for the cold-pressed varieties. This is because oils that get heated up tend to lose more vitamins and antioxidants. Never use processed oils such as vegetable oil and canola oil.

Reduce Acne with Oil Facial Cleanser

Do not worry if you have acne. In fact, your acne can be reduced if you do oil cleansing the right way. Oils are effective in cleaning and moisturizing the skin. Unlike harsh facial cleansers, they do not cause irritation. However, if you have highly sensitive skin, it is best to test the oil on a small portion of your skin. You can apply it on one side of your face (perhaps near your jawline so it’s not as conspicuous) and observe how your skin reacts to it.

Make-up Removal

In addition, you can use your facial cleanser as a makeup remover. This makes it good for two purposes. You can use it to remove lip stains and even waterproof mascara. There is no more need for you to use a moisturizer after you cleanse because your skin is already hydrated, thanks to the oil. However, if you plan to go out in the sun, be sure to apply some sunscreen to protect your skin.
